Nexus Packaging is delighted to announce that during the summer months this year, we managed to reduce our electricity consumption to below 1 KWh per kilogramme of finished bottles produced.
Director, Chris Wagner explains,
“Energy costs in the UK are significantly higher than in most EU countries, so it is vital that Nexus operates as efficiently as possible to stay competitive. Older, hydraulically operated blow moulding machines lose efficiency when producing hydraulic pressure from electric motors. Our all-electric machines use advanced motor controls to move and clamp moulds, saving significant power.”
These machines are supported by the very latest compressors, chillers and blenders that are themselves, extremely energy-efficient.
We also invested in 750 square metres of solar panels which, although not achieving the three-year payback we were promised, have significantly reduced our energy consumption.
The figure of less than 1 kWh per kilogram covers the entire manufacturing site, including office and warehouse electricity use.”
